RECOIL TESTING

All Holosun sights are bench tested to 1000G recoil during design and a statistical sampling is tested during production.  Of course no recoil simulator can duplicate all field situations, but the response from customers has been that Holosun optics are able to take the recoil for larger calibre firearms including .308 and 12GA shotguns.   Customers have also indicated that the sights are able to handle the different recoil profile provided by air guns.

To further validate the recoil capabilities of each sight, when a new sight model comes into Canada, it is tested by the distributor, holosun.ca.   A Mossberg 835 Ulti-Mag was acquired for testing.

The testing procedure is as follows:

• • • • The new sight is mounted on the shotgun with an extra full turkey choke installed.
      • A single 3 ½” turkey load is fired at a target at a range of 10m to establish point of impact
      • The turkey choke is then replaced with a modified choke
      • 6 rounds of 1550 fps 3 ½” steel shot are rapidly fired at the target.  This is limit of pain the tester can handle.
      • The turkey choke is reinstalled and another 3 ½” turkey load fired at the target to confirm point of impact has not changed.

While this procedure does not guarantee that the sight will work for your application, it is a good indication of the sight's capabilities.
